LEADING VIRTUALLY

We have learned quite a few lessons from the pandemic in which we find ourselves. No doubt we are growing weary. The most common comments I’ve heard lately or along the lines of, “I can’t wait until this is all over!“

While I agree with the sentiment, I have a suggestion that will help the waiting seem more bearable. Finish strong! Let’s take the remainder of our time of physical isolation and continue to lead virtually. Whether a few weeks or a few months, we can use this time well to lead with impact.

Noted author and speaker, Henry cloud, describes the difference between “good“ time and “bad “time as whether we are growing or not. I suggest that as leaders, that extends to whether we are leading or not.

In order to rise above the pool to stay on the data exchange side of things or simply try am “wait out” the situation, let’s take the initiative to lead with influence.

One of the lessons we have learned is that zoom calls, (or the equivalent) are good for the transference of objective data, like sales projections, budget considerations, marketing solutions, or information gathering. What is more difficult are the softer, more subjective things like caring for one another or working through interpersonal conflict.

In order to rise above the pool to stay on the data exchange side of things or simply try am “wait out” the situation, let’s take the initiative to lead with influence. Here are some ideas.

1. Ask one another about your personal, professional, and spiritual growth.

2. Look at some good teaching together on a variety of issues. LeaderImpact’s integrated life studies provide several options for this. Look at these options here.

3. Ask good questions like, “what have you learned lately?“ Or “what is your biggest stress factor currently?“ Follow up with, “how can I help?“

4. An excellent opportunity is to participate in our upcoming LeaderImpact forum, information can be found here. You will have the chance to connect with like-minded leaders about things that really matter.

Leaders of impact lead in all situations. One of the best antidotes to discouragement awareness is to help others. Everyone I know could use a little encouragement.
